OUR VALUES

THE VISION
African American boys across the nation represent some of the highest populations of children detained in secure detention facilities outside of their homes. This national epidemic is better understood as Disproportionate Minority Contact.
All The Kings Men is committed to providing a year around mentoring and development programs in efforts to reduce DMC of African American boys. The Annie E. Casey Foundation, (Pathways to Juvenile Detention) asserts because of the economic situation of their parents or the"starting gate", African American children are less well educated, and are more likely to die a violent death.
African American boys are at risk of being directly impacted by the Juvenile Justice due to specific demographic disparities in their home and environment. Specific disparities include, lack of education, single parent homes, kinship caregivers, poverty and environmental temptations that lead to truancy, unruly behavior and general delinquency. AKM believes that through race specific training and mentoring, African American boys have a better opportunity to be strong, successful, well-rounded leaders of today and in the future if given intentional opportunity.
AKM facilitates an Interview and Application process that includes parent/s and the boy. AKM offers a 9 month organized development curriculum that focuses on the mind, body and lifestyle of participants, a summer enrichment/fellowship program, group mentoring, and immersion trips. AKM is not a single rotation initiative. Our program spans from initial enrollment into Life Membership. An accomplishment reached when the student graduates from High School. We believe the mentee grows into the mentor for future generations.
